Nation?s best head to Purdue

FAYETTEVILLE – After a week away from competition, the No. 17 University of Arkansas swimming and diving team travels to the Purdue Invitational Nov. 19-21 in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Razorbacks collected a national rank of 17th from the College swimming Coaches Association of America last week after boasting a 5-1 dual record and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference. UA is competing against four other teams in the top 25 at the Invitational including 13th-ranked Michigan.

Eight teams are on the slate to compete at the sight of last year’s NCAA Championships. Louisville, Ohio State, No. 20 and 21, respectively, are set to compete as well as Cincinnati Missouri State, Southern Illinois and host Purdue.

The Hogs go into the meet after sophomore Chelsea Franklin posted a pool-record time of 9:50.16 in the 1,000 free. Three Razorback divers also head into the meet with NCAA Zone qualifying scores in either the on or three-meter event.

Friday’s events begin with the preliminary races at 9:30 a.m. CT, at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, followed by finals at5 p.m. CT. Each of the next two days will follow the same format.
