FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team rose to No. 39 in the newest Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings released on Tuesday.
Having faced seven straight ranked opponentsandNo. 7 Texas A&M on deck Friday in College Station, Texas, the Razorbacks (5-8, 0-4 SEC)have alreadyearned four winsover ranked foes this season. UA defeated current No. 46 Wichita State twice in a doubleheader to open the spring season and has also defeated No. 35 Kansas State and No. 67 North Texas.
Based on a computer point-per-match formula, the Razorbacks rose six spots after being ranked No. 45 in the countryin last week’s ITA National Team Rankings. UA has been ranked as high as No. 33 by the ITA this season, which marked its highest marksince the 2011-12 season.
Arkansas returns to the road this weekend and travels to face No. 7 Texas A&M on Friday, March 14, followed by Missouri on Sunday, March 16.
