Nine Hogs Named to SEC Track and Field Academi

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas track and field squad placed nine athletes on the 2001 Men’s Track and Field Academic Honor Roll as announced by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer on Tuesday. The track and field honor roll is comprised of athletes in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.
Razorbacks named to the honor roll and their majors include Andrew Begley in kinesiology, Josh Landreth in chemical engineering, Daniel Lincoln in biochemistry, Dale Lusby in financial management, Lloyd Meeks in microbiology, Jon Taylor in political science, Mark Thompson in physics, Ramon Washington in computer science engineering and Eric Zack in kinesiology.
The University of Tennessee topped the list with 21 student-athletes on the academic roster. Auburn University and the University of Georgia were close behind with 14 honorees each.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2001 SEC Men’s Track and Field Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic calendar.
The 2001 SEC Track & Field Championships will be held May 10 thru May 13 in Columbia, S.C. on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
