No. 1 Fassi, Arkansas Return To Action

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Maria Fassi and the University of Arkansas women’s golf team return to the course as the top-ranked player and team in the nation, taking part in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 13-15, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The 54-hole event takes place at Finley Golf Club, a par 72, 6,379-yard course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course is familiar to the Razorbacks with the team making the program’s 10th appearance at this event.

The 18-team field is the largest that Arkansas has faced this season and features three Southeastern Conference members and four teams ranked in the Golfweek.com top-10.

Both Fassi and the Razorbacks have back-to-back wins under their belts to begin the season. Fassi tied for the win at the Mason Rudolph Championship and was the medalist at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M in the team’s last outing. Arkansas blazed through the field at the Mason Rudolph Championship with a 41-under 823 for the team victory. They added title number two in Minnesota last week with a 16-under 848 for the win. It is the fifth multiple win season in program history.

In addition to Fassi’s strong performances, the Razorbacks have had solid play from senior Alana Uriell and junior Dylan Kim. Uriell has posted back-to-back third-place finishes with Kim adding third and fourth place honors this year. They are ranked No. 6 and No. 9, respectively, in the country this week.

Arkansas opens play on hole 10 playing with Michigan and Rollins College in round one.
