No. 18 Arkansas To Take On Tulsa

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 18 Arkansas women’s tennis team will hit the road Wednesday for a midweek non-conference match at Tulsa.

First serve between the Razorbacks (13-3, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) and Golden Hurricane (16-4, 3-0 American Athletic Conference) is set for 3 p.m. at Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Live scoring/video of the match will be available here.

Quotable
“All the numbers go out the window when we play against Tulsa,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “These matches over the years have been incredibly evenly matched, and the winner is usually the one that hangs in there a little longer.”

The Series
Arkansas holds a 24-6 advantage over Tulsa in the all-time series; however, last year, the Hurricane defeated the Razorbacks in Fayetteville during the regular season and in the NCAA Stillwater, Oklahoma, Regional.

In The Rankings
The Razorbacks checked in at No. 18 in the latest edition of the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings released Tuesday. It marked the fourth straight week Arkansas has been featured in the top 20.

Senior co-captain and two-time SEC Player of the Week Shannon Hudson jumped 16 spots to No. 48 in the singles rankings, while sophomore Ana Oparenovic checked in at No. 115 and junior Léolia Jeanjean entered at No. 121. The duo of Hudson and freshman Giulia Pairone surged into the doubles rankings at No. 38.

Arkansas is one of six schools in the SEC with at least three players ranked in singles and at least one duo ranked in doubles.

Hudson has a 10-3 dual-match singles record with all 10 wins coming at the No. 1 spot. Oparenovic is 11-7 and 5-3 at No. 2. Jeanjean, who has competed at No. 2, 3 and 4 positions, has an eight-match win streak and a team-best 12-1 record. In doubles, Hudson and Pairone have a team-best 7-1 record while playing at the top two positions.
