No. 11 women?s cross takes on Dellinger Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 11 Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country will travel to Eugene, Ore. for the Bill Dellinger Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon, Saturday, Oct. 4. The women’s 6K race is set to go off at 12:30 p.m. CST at the Springfield (Ore.) Country Club.

The Bill Dellinger Invitational will mark the first NCAA standard 6,000-meter run for the Razorbacks in 2008. Arkansas cross country will run at varying distances during the 2008 season. The Razorback harriers opened the season with a 4K at the Arkansas Dual, upped it to a 5K at the Memphis Twilight Classic and will run a 6K at the remainder of the meets including the Chile Pepper Festival, SEC, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships.

Denise Bargiachi, Cali George, Megan Jackson, Christine Kalmer, Samantha Learch, Ashley Mason, Dacia Perkins, Jillian Rosen, Ashley Williams and Catherine White are scheduled to compete Saturday.

No. 23 BYU, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, No. 14 Colorado State, No. 1 Oregon, Penn State, Portland, UTEP, Wake Forest, Weber State, along with No. 11 Arkansas, will compete at the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Saturday.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country ranked No. 11 in its second poll of the 2008 season, it was announced by the association Sept. 30. Among the Southeastern Conference, Florida is ranked No. 14 and Tennessee sits at 29th.

Also released earlier this week were the USTFCCCA regional rankings. The Arkansas harriers, the only SEC squad ranked in the region, are seated at No. 1 in the South Central Region.
