FAYETTEVILLE – After a month-long hiatus from competition, the Razorbacks swimming and diving team heads to Kansas to face the Jayhawks in the first dual of 2011 on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Arkansas left 2010 with a 6-2 dual record and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference. A loss to BYU and win over Utah in December brought the Razorbacks to No. 18 in the country.
"Kansas is always really good in January," head coach Jeff Poppell said. "This is our first meet in over a month, so it will be an opportunity for us to kind of knock off the rust."
The Jayhawks began their 2011 competition in early January and has already competed three times this month. Kansas comes into the dual with a 6-4 dual record after its latest win over 22nd ranked LSU and Vanderbilt last week.
Kansas will face the Razorbacks for the fourth consecutive year and play host for the first time since 2007. With a series record of 10-15, UA has won each of the past three duals with the Jayhawks including the meeting in 2007 in Lawrence.
After making the trip to Lawrence, Kan., the Razorbacks come back to the Arkansas Natatorium for a two-weekend home stretch. The Hogs will play host to Houston on Jan. 21 and back-to-back Division II national champion Drury on Jan. 29.
