No. 20/23 Razorbacks at Bama

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 20/23 University of Arkansas women’s basketball team is looking to rebound after a loss traveling to Alabama for Southeastern Conference action Sunday.

Arkansas (14-2, 2-2 SEC) suffered a last-section loss to Georgia in Bud Walton Thursday and face an Alabama (11-6, 0-4) team dropped its fourth consecutive conference decision against Vanderbilt Thursday but the Crimson Tide have eight wins at home already this season.

"We are excited to get back out on the floor," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. "This is a team that prides itself on being able to pick themselves back up and go back to work. They came into practice today focused and ready to work on the Alabama game plan."

Arkansas enters the Alabama game riding the high of the second-half performance of junior Lyndsay Harris. Harris, a Hoover, Ala., native, tied the school record with six second-half three-pointers pulling Arkansas even with the Bulldogs.

Harris scored 26 points tying her career-high and finished the game with eight treys in the contest.

"My teammates have confidence in me," Harris said. "I know it’s OK for me to miss a shot or two. I have the confidence to keep shooting until they fall.

"This team is so close," she continued. "We believe in each other and in the coaching staff and in the game plan. We trust what the coaches tell us and we just want to go out and execute well. The loss was tough but we know we have to get back up quickly and keep moving forward. We start that at Alabama."

Harris is one of three players averaging double figures this week. She leads the team with 14.3 ppg. Sophomore Sarah Watkins moved into the No. 2 spot for the first time this year after the Miss State game. Watkins averages 12.9 ppg. Junior C’eira Ricketts rounds out the top three with a 12.4 ppg average. Freshman Keira Peak is closing fast as well. She averages 9.0 ppg this year.

The Razorbacks tip with Alabama at 2 p.m. central. Arkansas remains on the road for consecutive league road trips traveling to Vanderbilt Thursday. The Razorbacks come home to the friendly confines of Bud Walton Arena Jan. 23 hosting Ole Miss.
