No. 21 @RazorbackMGolf Moves Up On Final Day Of Aggie Invite

BRYAN, Texas — Battling cool temperatures and constant rain that resulted in a 30-minute delay, the No. 21 Arkansas men’s golf team finished off the Aggie Invitation with lowest score turned in by the 12-team field in the final round to move up two spots into sixth place. Behind its second straight team score of 301, Arkansas finished just eight strokes back of No. 25 LSU and No. 16 Texas A&M who shared the team title. Teams 3-6 in the standings were separated by four strokes, as No. 49 Texas Tech placed third with No. 3 California and No. 2 Oklahoma State tying for fourth. For the second straight year, sophomore Taylor Moore finished as the team’s low-man at Traditions Club with a 75-73-74/222 scorecard. Moore moved from a tie for 13th into a tie for sixth place in the 70-player field for his team-leading fifth top 10. For the second straight tournament, Moore finished with 36 pars and seven birdies as he’s now been Arkansas’ low-man in four of five events in the spring. Senior Sebastian Cappelen posted the low round of the day for the Razorbacks with a one-over 73, matching Moore’s second round 73 for the team’s lowest round of the tournament. During Saturday’s opening round, Cappelen carded his 400th career birdie and on Sunday he broke 100 birdies for the season for the third straight year, including four in the final round for the second straight day. Cappelen’s two-day 79-77-73/229 put him in a tie for 25th place. Joining Moore and Cappelen as one of three Razorbacks to start all 10 events this year, redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford contributed a score all three rounds to finish in a tie for 28th position (76-77-77). Crawford led the team with 38 pars over the tournament, which is also a season-high. Sophomore Nicolas Echavarria bookended his tournament with 77s, both of which were counting scores. Echavarria closed Monday with pars in 10 of his last 11 holes and finished in sole possession of 32nd (77-78-77). Arkansas will now turn its attention to the SEC Championship which will begin on Friday, April 25. For the 14th time the tournament will be held at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course at St. Simons Island, Ga.
