No. 7 Lady'Back golf team travels to final fall event

FAYETTEVILLE — The seventh-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team tests itself again this week traveling to the UA Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate hosted by Alabama Friday-Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Arkansas, paced by one of the top collegians in the country in Stacy Lewis, enter their final fall weekend of play as one of the top-ranked teams in the field.

"This is another great field," said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes. "This field gives us a chance to test ourselves against several teams from the SEC and see where we match up. It’s a great measuring stick and will allow us to see what we need to work on for the spring."

The Lady Razorbacks take on No. 14 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn, No. 5 Florida, No. 49 Kentucky, No. 24 LSU, No. 84 Ole Miss, No. 62 Mississippi State and No. 31 South Carolina from the Southeastern Conference. In addition, Arkansas faces No. 52 Central Florida, No. 33 Florida State, No. 54 Furman, No. 61 Kansas, No. 39 Louisville, No. 70 Northwestern, No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 146 Samford and No. 25 Texas in the stacked field.

Lewis continues to pace the Lady Razorbacks. The Woodlands, Texas, native is coming of the individual title at the Stanford Intercollegiate last weekend and has lead Arkansas to a pair of third place and a fourth place showing in the team’s first three events.

"Stacy manages her game so well," said Estes. "If she gets her putter hot, I think she’s just about unbeatable."

Lewis will get some of her best competition against her teammates. Also making the trip is junior Lucy Nunn, sophomores Kristin Ingram and Alex Schulte and freshman Kelli Shean.
