No. 8 Hogs host NCAA meet

FAYETTEVILLE – Select members of the No. 8 Arkansas Razorback men’s track and field team will compete at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships, at the Randal Tyson Track Center, Fri.-Sat., March 12-13.

On Friday, multi-events start at 10 a.m., field events at 12 p.m. and running events at 4:55 p.m. On Saturday, multi-events start at 11 a.m., field events at 2 p.m. and running events at 6:15 p.m.

Arkansas will be represented by six individuals in six individual events. Senior Dorian Ulrey will run the 3,000 meters, senior Scott MacPherson will run the 5,000 meters, freshman Caleb Cross will run the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Brede Raa Ellingsen will compete in the high jump, senior Alain Bailey, the NCAA leader, and sophomore Tarik Batchelor, No. 3 in the event, will compete in the long jump and Batchelor will also compete in the triple jump. The Razorbacks will also run the distance medley relay. Arkansas’ DMR has the No. 9 time in the NCAA, 9:33.12.

The Razorbacks will be looking to capture their 41st national championship in school history. Arkansas has won 19 NCAA Indoor crowns, including 19 of the last 26 indoor championships contested. The Hogs have won three of the last seven NCAA Indoor titles including the 2003, 2005 and 2006 championships. Arkansas has won four of the nine indoor championships held at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The Razorbacks won an NCAA-record 12 NCAA Indoor Championships in a row from 1984-95.

In the latest USTFCCCA poll, Arkansas is No. 8. The Razorbacks are one of seven SEC schools in this week’s poll. Florida is No. 1, LSU is No. 5, Auburn is No. 17, Georgia is No. 18, Kentucky is No. 23 and Ole Miss is No. 25.
