Nolan Richardson Press Conference – Wake Fores
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas plays host to Wake Forest Friday at 6 p.m. in a second-round preseason NIT game being televised by ESPN. Arkansas is coming off a 64-47 win over Maine while the Demon Deacons beat North Carolina-Wilmington, 79-78, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

“We expect a good game. Wake Forest is a good team. I was very impressed in watching their tape. They play just like us. They run the scramble-type press. It looks like a zone but they are in a man. They have several kids who played and won here before. I think they will be very good. They’ve changed their style. They used to be more half-court, which I used to enjoy playing against. It should be a barn burner. We run and they run, we press and they press. It’s like day and night from the Wake Forest we played two years ago.”

Arkansas’ player rotation:

“I’ve got 11 guys who played double-figure minutes (against Maine), and that was by design. I need to find out who can help me and who can’t. (Dionisio) Gomez got in foul trouble but he had seven rebounds at the half, then we decided to see some other kids play. I’ve told our players that will stop at some point. As they play and continue to do something right and win games, we’ll have a really good idea of who our top nine or 10 guys are. Right now I don’t know.”

Friday’s starters:

“We’ll start another group on Friday, probably Charles Tatum, T.J. Cleveland, Teddy Gipson, Alonzo Lane and Dionisio Gomez. It’s not important who starts. What’s important is playing time. That’s what has always been important in my style.”
