Nunn earns SEC honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior Lucy Nunn earned Southeastern Conference Female Golfer of the Week honors the league office announced today. “What a great honor for Lucy to be recognized for her great play these past two weeks,” said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. “There is no one more deserving than Lucy. She is a great leader, has a tremendous work ethic and has played like a true champion these past two weeks. Her hard work is paying off with great results. She is where she belongs and I look forward to watching her get better each week. She is giving everything she has to end her career on the highest note as a Razorback.” Nunn won her first collegiate event leading the Razorbacks to a fourth -place finish at the LSU/Cleveland Classic (March 13-15) in Baton Rouge. Nunn opened with an even-par 72 in the first round, shot a career-best 68 in the second round and finished with a two-under 69 in the final round for a career-best 209. She won a two-hole three-way playoff, scoring birdies on both holes. Of the 18 teams in the LSU field, 16 were ranked in the top 50. The Lawton, Okla., native followed that up by finishing second in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic in Austin, Texas last weekend. She had scores of 70-70-73 in the three rounds to finish at 213, three strokes under par and leading Arkansas to a third-place finish. Nunn leads the Razorbacks with a 73.39 stroke average and has had six rounds of par-or-better. She has Arkansas’ best scores after 18, 36 and 54 holes of play. Nunn and the Razorbacks have been ranked in or near the top 25 in three different polls all season. This week, the Razorbacks move up to No. 16 in the Golfweek/Saragin Performance Index while remaining No. 19 in the Golfstat poll and are No. 24 in the National Golf Coaches Association Coaches poll. The Razorbacks continue their busy schedule taking part in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., March 27-29.
