On The Road To Arizona State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Winners of three in a row, the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team travels to Arizona State for one final contest before the holiday break.

The Razorbacks (8-3) and Sun Devils (8-3) meet on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. central. The game will be carried live on the Pac-12 Network.

The game is just the second meeting between these teams, but Razorback head coach Mike Neighbors is more than familiar with this former Pac-12 foe.

Scouting Arkansas
Arkansas enters the game having won three in a row thanks to a balanced effort in each of the contests. Junior Raven Northcross-Baker stepped up in the team’s most recent action with a career-best 22 points including going 6-for-8 from distance to pace Arkansas. Junior Malica Monk was also in double figures for the 11th consecutive game with 20 points in the win.

Sophomore Jailyn Mason is one of the steadiest players for Arkansas this season. Mason has played multiple positions on the floor and handles the ball often for Arkansas. Where Monk is the engine that pushes Arkansas and the tempo, Mason is the steady hand that keeps the game under control for the Razorbacks.

Scouting Arizona State
Arizona State is 8-3 on the year and is coming off a win over Idaho on Monday. The Sun Devils are yet another team with a significant height advantage over the Razorbacks and that is reflected in their shooting efficiency and rebounding.

The Sun Devils are shooting .446 on the year and are +7.7 on the boards this season. Kianna Ibis (12.0 ppg) and Jamie Ruden (10.1 ppg) average double figures for Arizona State and three more players are contributing eight or more points per game. The Sun Devils lost Sabrina Haines (10.2 ppg) to injury last weekend but center Eva Rubin checks in at 6’5” and is one of seven Sun Devils who are 6’0” or taller.

Up Next
Arkansas will break from competition for the holidays. The Razorbacks return to the count on Dec. 28, hosting Grambling State at 7 p.m. Arkansas opens Southeastern Conference play hosting Ole Miss on Dec. 31, at 2 p.m.
