ORU Knocks Off Diamond Hogs in 11 Innings 4-3

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oral Roberts’ Kelly Minissale singled in the winning run in the 11th inning to help the Golden Eagles knock off No. 17 Arkansas 4-3 in 11 innings in the opening round of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional at Baum Stadium.

A crowd of 7,467 watched as Hogs’ second baseman James Ewing booted a one-out ground ball that came around to score the winning run.

Oral Roberts (39-14) will play Oklahoma State on Saturday at 7 p.m., while Arkansas (38-20) will face Princeton in an elimination game at 2 p.m.

Oral Roberts pitcher Sean Jarrett (7-1), who entered the game in the seventh inning, struck out three and gave up only two hits in five innings to pick up the win.

Danny Hamblin hit his 17th home run of the season for Arkansas and Ewing and Brian Walker both collected two hits each.

Arkansas starting pitcher Nick Schmidt worked eight innings allowing three runs on 10 hits. He fanned 10 for his eighth double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Schmidt has fanned 145 on the season.
