Pfeifer voted preseason all-SEC for the second year in a row

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas senior post player Sarah Pfeifer was voted preseason all-Southeastern Conference by the league coaches for the second year in a row.

The SEC office released the preseason women’s all-SEC team in conjunction with the annual basketball media day in Birmingham.

Pfeifer returns to the Lady’Back roster after missing last season with a torn ACL. The senior post was Arkansas’ leading scorer during the 2004-05 season. The Lady’Backs were 17-14 that season, finishing in the second round of the Women’s NIT. Pfeifer was also named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2005.

Last year, Pfeifer was also voted to the preseason all-SEC second team, and days later suffered her season-ending injury in the Red-White Game.

Arkansas was voted preseason 10th last year by the league media, but finished the season tied for eighth in the league in spite of losing Pfeifer and two other starters during the season to injuries.

The 2006 preseason poll will be issued on Thursday at the conclusion of this year’s media days. Arkansas participates in the Thursday morning rotation, with head coach Susie Gardner and junior guard Brittney Vaughn representing the Lady Razorbacks.
