Pisani No. 1 in nation on floor, team No. 5

Pisani No. 1 in nation on floor, team No. 5

FAYETTEVILLE – Senior All-American Jaime Pisani maintained her No. 1 national ranking on floor while Arkansas is ranked No. 5 as a team in this week’s GymInfo national rankings, which were released on Monday.

The Razorbacks are fifth with an average score of 196.554, behind only Utah, Florida, Oklahoma and Georgia. Alabama, Friday’s 7:30 p.m. opponent in Tuscaloosa, is No. 6. Since opening the season No. 11 in the preseason rankings, the Razorbacks have been in the top five every week since.

Arkansas is No. 2 in the country on bars, No. 6 on vault, No. 7 on beam and No. 8 on floor.

Individually, three Razorbacks combine for four top five national rankings.

Pisani is No. 1 on floor for the third straight week, tying the school record for weeks in the top spot. Casey Jo Magee was No. 1 on beam for three weeks in 2010.

Pisani won floor last week at Georgia with a 9.925. The Ringwood, N.J., native owns the school record of 9.975, set earlier this year against Auburn.

Senior Mariah Howdeshell is No. 4 in the country on bars after being ranked No. 1 the two previous weeks. Sophomore All-American Katherine Grable is No. 4 on vault and No. 5 on beam. Grable won vault at Georgia last week.

Pisani is also No. 7 on bars and tied for No. 15 on vault.

Sophomore Shelby Salmon is No. 25 on bars and Grable is No. 27 on floor.

In the all-around, Grable is No. 7, Pisani No. 11 and junior Jordan Salsberg No. 31.

Pisani and Grable lead the Razorbacks with 13 individual event titles each this season while Howdeshell has two event wins.

In the South Central Regional rankings, Arkansas is No. 2 overall, No. 1 on bars, No. 2 on beam, and No. 3 on vault and floor.

On vault, Grable is No. 2, Pisani tied for fifth, Salsberg No. 16 and junior All-American Kelci Lewis No. 20.

Howdeshell is No. 2 on bars, Pisani is No. 3, Salmon No. 8, Grable tied for No. 14 and Salsberg No. 18.

On beam, Grable is No. 2, Salsberg No. 12 and sophomore Scarlett Williams No. 14.

Pisani is first on floor, followed by Grable at No. 10, sophomore Bailee Zumwalde No. 16 and junior All-American Amy Borsellino at No. 18.

In the all-around, Grable is No. 2, Pisani No. 3 and Salsberg No. 9.
