FAYETTEVILLE – Following a Senior Night performance in which Arkansas All-American Jaime Pisani won all five individual event titles, she has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Gymnast of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Arkansas is the site of the NCAA South Central Regional on April 7 in Barnhill Arena, but Friday’s win over No. 18 Minnesota was the final regular-season performance at home for the Ringwood, N.J., native. She made it one to remember with five individual titles. Pisani tied fellow senior Mariah Howdeshell for the bars title with a 9.925, and she won vault with a 9.90, beam with a 9.90, floor with a 9.95 and the all-around with a 39.675.
Her floor score ties for the second-best in school history while the bars and all-around scores tie for third-best.
Pisani has 22 individual event wins this year and 81 for her career heading into Saturday’s 5 p.m. meet at No. 28 West Virginia.
In this week’s GymInfo national rankings, she is No. 2 in the nation on floor after being No. 1 the previous five weeks. She is also No. 5 in the all-around, tied for No. 9 on bars and tied for No. 13 on vault.
Her season highs include 9.925 on vault, 9.95 on bars, 9.925 on beam, and school records of 9.975 on floor and 39.725 in the all-around.
This is the fifth SEC weekly honor for Pisani. She earned Gymnast of the Week honors twice last year and was the Freshman of the Week twice in 2009.
The Razorbacks are ranked No. 8 in the nation and have nine wins this year over teams ranked in the top 25.
