FAYETTEVILLE – After winning the all-around title and leading Arkansas to its first-ever victory over Georgia, junior All-American Jaime Pisani has been named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week.
No. 11 Arkansas knocked off the fourth-ranked Gym Dogs in Barnhill Arena on Friday, 195.775-195.40.
Pisani, from Ringwood, N.J., won the all-around with a 39.375. She’s won the all-around title in four consecutive meets as the Razorbacks (3-2, 3-1) have won three straight and recorded improved scores the last three weeks.
"Jaime was dialed in," co-head coach Mark Cook says. "She is really deserving of this award. I’m proud of her and happy that she’s been recognized by the conference office. As well as she’s done this year, I know she’s not satisfied and is continuing to work to get better."
Pisani had a season-high of 9.85 on bars, and scores of 9.825 on vault, 9.825 on beam and 9.875 on floor. In addition to winning the all-around, she tied for the title on floor. She had Arkansas’ top score, or tied for the team best, on all four events.
She has 10 individual event titles for the season and 41 for her career. Her season highs are 9.90 on vault, 9.85 on bars, 9.85 on beam, 9.90 on floor and 39.425 in the all-around.
Pisani is tied for No. 13 in the nation in the all-around and is No. 6 on floor.
Arkansas has two top 25 victories this season and 23 over the last three seasons. The Razorbacks are on the road this week, facing No. 19 LSU in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday at 7 p.m.
