Plasencia, Rees move on at Trans National

ELGIN, S.C. Future University of Arkansas women’s golfer Regina Plasencia and former Razorback Corinna Rees moved on to the round of 64 at the Trans National Amateur Championship at Woodcreek Golf Club in Elgin, S.C., Tuesday.

Plasencia, a native of Mexico, will join the Razorbacks as a freshman this fall. She finished tied for fifth overall shooting a 147. Plasencia posted a 71 in the first round and 76 on Tuesday to advance to match play.

Plasencia was one-under in the first round and four over on Tuesday. She birdied the 12th hole on both rounds.

She faces Courtney Fergusson of Houston, Texas, in an 8:54 a.m. central tee time at Woodcreek.

Rees, a Pebble Beach, Calif., native and recent graduate, tied for 33rd overall shooting 79-75=154.

Rees takes on Jayde Panos of Perth, Australia, in an 11:50 a.m. central tee time.

Current Razorback Hally Leadbetter was elimiated shooting 77-85=162 and tying for 67th overall.
