Portis, West win McDonald’s All-America game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas basketball signee Bobby Portis earned a starting spot and helped lead the West squad to a 110-99 victory in the 2013 McDonald’s All-American game at the United Center in Chicago, Ill., on Wednesday night.

Portis tallied 12 points, one rebound and two blocks in 18 minutes on the court and was the second-leading scorer for the West which featured six players in double figures.  Portis was nearly perfect from the field, going 4-of-5 overall and 1-of-2 from three.  He also sank three of his four free throw attempts and his two blocks matched the game high.

The McDonald’s All-American game is the first of three elite level competitions that Portis is participating in over a 17-day span.  Next up for the Little Rock, Ark., native is the Jordan Brand Classic high school all-star showcase on April 13 and concludes with USA Basketball’s 2013 USA Junior National Select team at the Nike Hoop Summit on April 20.
