Arkansas vs. Oral Roberts
June 2, 2006
Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn:
“Today was a good ball game. We left a lot of runners on and couldn’t get that big hit. I thought that Oral Roberts’ pitchers did a tremendous job of pitching tonight.
“We will have our hands full with Princeton tomorrow. We have to dig down and try to find a way to win. It’s been done before but it will be a tough road to get through the regional.”
Arkansas Pitcher Nick Schmidt:
“I battled as much as I could and the offense stepped up and saved me from recording a loss.”
Arkansas First Baseman Danny Hamblin:
“It comes down to making the big hit and we didn’t take advantage when we had the bases loaded. We just need to bounce back and continue playing like every game is our last.”
Oral Roberts Head Coach Rob Walton:
“It was quite a battle tonight. Each team had opportunities with runners in scoring position.
“Nick Jones gave us an opportunity. It wasn’t his best stuff, but it was a gutsy effort.
“It was an outstanding ballgame. It was really hard fought on both sides and we were fortunate to get the win.”
ORU Pitcher Nick Jones:
“Each team came out and punched each other in the mouth a little bit. We would score and they would score.”
ORU Pitcher Sean Jarrett:
“We got timely hitting, and our guys played great defense behind us. I felt fortunate to be put in that position (at the end of the game).”
