Post-Game Quotes

Arkansas Head Coach Stan Heath:

“We looked better tonight. We fixed some things we struggled with (against UMKC) and had a good start with a lead. We gave up a few things, but we finished plays.

“We have been re-enforcing not turning the ball over (in practice). We gave up some boards especially on the defensive end. We still had three guys in double figures, and that shows good balance because I wanted to get lot of guys minutes tonight.”

Arkansas Forward Charles Thomas:

“We don’t want to take this time off (for final exams) from basketball. We need to get better. When you have the other scoring threats we have, it makes it easier for me to get opportunities. We’ve got lots of improvement to make before the tougher part of our schedule.”

Arkansas Point Guard Gary Ervin:

“After the UMKC game, Coach (Stan Heath) challenged us to become a better ball club, especially at home. We did an excellent job of not turning the ball over. It got our offense going and got some easy baskets for our big men.”

Arkansas Forward Sonny Weems:

“We played pretty good defense. We’ve been practicing our press. We’re trying to get to 40 minutes of pressure and tough defense to get ready for the SEC.”

Arkansas Guard Sean McCurdy:

“We did a good job taking care of the ball and maximizing our possessions. Charles (Thomas) is a hard worker. He’s going to go out there and bang and get offensive rebounds and tough points.”

Central Michigan Head Coach Ernie Zeigler:

“We knew their focus would be to pressure Giordan Watson. Arkansas was very successful in attacking their game plan. I thought we made some adjustments at halftime and we did a good job relieving some of the pressure. Arkansas is a good team and will definitely be an NCAA Tournament team.”

Central Michigan Guard Giordan Watson:

Arkansas is a good team. They got a lot of production from their big guys tonight. Things got off to a slow start, but we hung in there. We’re always going to compete no matter the situation.”

Central Michigan Forward/Center Brandon Ford:

“Toward the end of the game we got some shots to drop. We just couldn’t settle into a rhythm at first. It’s never good to lose, but this will help us once conference play starts.”
