Pre-Qualifying Concludes, Hogs Begin Qualifying Action Monday

TULSA, Okla. – The Razorback men’s tennis team continued play at the ITA All-American Sunday in the final day of the pre-qualifying draws.

Jose Alonso began the day after picking up two wins yesterday to advance to the round of 64, but fell in a hard-fought battle against Antonio Muniz Hidalgo of Georgia Southern University 7-6(2), 6-2. Josh Howard-Tripp dropped his matchup to Noe Khlif of Illinois 6-2, 6-3. Howard-Tripp had advanced to the round of 64 after defeating Thine Bernhard of Oklahoma in his only matchup yesterday.

Alex Reco went 1-1 on the day, defeating Jan-Simon Vrbsky (SMU), 4-2, 6-2, 7-6(4); but fell in the round of 32 to Spencer Ferman of Duke 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4.

The first round of Qualifying action is set to begin Monday. Arkansas has a pair of Razorbacks competing in both singles and doubles. Oscar Mesquida will face off against Andy Andrade (Florida) in the Hogs’ second Southeastern Conference matchup of the tournament. Adam Sanjurjo is set to play Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford tomorrow morning.

In doubles, Alex Reco and Josh Howard Tripp will face off against Alan Gadjiev-Brett Dill-Morgan of Wake Forest.
