Price is right for Pulliza

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas volleyball coach Robert Pulliza announced the hiring of Carol Price as an assistant coach for the Razorbacks today. Price comes to Arkansas after two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas-San Antonio. “As we continue to move forward and advance the Arkansas volleyball tradition we are excited that Carol Price has decided to join us,” said Pulliza. “She was a fixture in the NCAA Tournament during her collegiate career with two Sweet 16 appearances under her belt. Having her in our system will be a great benefit.” While at UTSA, Price helped the Roadrunners to successes both in and out of the gym. Six players earned All-Southland Conference honors, including first-team pick Connie Picard and 2007 first-teamer Victoria Prior. In addition, Price assisted the Roadrunners with five selections to the SLC All-Academic team while on the sidelines. “Having recruited her, coached against her and been a colleague of hers as an assistant, I know she will represent Arkansas at the highest level and will always put our student-athletes first,” said Pulliza. Prior to her time at UTSA, Price served for one year as an assistant at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She aided the Pirates to a 36-5 record, the team’s first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title in recent years and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2005. Price is a native of Fenton, Mich., and played her college volleyball at Texas A&M from 2000-03. A two-year starter as an outside hitter for the Aggies, Price earned the team’s Most Improved Player award as a junior. She was named the team’s Best Offensive Player as a senior after moving to middle blocker. In addition to volleyball, Price was a center on the Aggies women’s basketball team in the 2003-04 season. Price is a 2004 Texas A&M graduate with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture. The start of the Razorback volleyball season is approaching fast. The team is scheduled to report the second week of August and plays its first match at the Colorado State Tournament Aug. 29.
