#ProHogs Report: Week 11

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Second-year pro Martrell Spaight came out of Arkansas as one of the Razorbacks best defensive players in recent years. Now a linebacker with the Washington Redskins, Spaight showed off that skill Sunday night by hauling in his first career interception in the final moments of his team’s 42-24 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Spaight, who has seen action in eight games this year, has already seen more production than his rookie season where he only made it on the field once. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native has been strong special teams player for the Redskins this year with a few spot snaps at linebacker as he has five tackles, two solo stops, one interception and one pass breakup.

Even with Sunday’s game with the Packers well in hand, Spaight’s interception in the final seconds showcased that the former 5th round pick may be back to full health after battling through injuries earlier in the season.

Spaight had a strong preseason this year, totaling 12 tackles over four games, including one forced fumble. In the regular season, he has been eased back onto the field through the special teams unit after suffering a concussion back in Week 1.

Sunday’s game was Spaight’s second multi-tackle performance this year after he had three tackles in a Week 6 win against Philadelphia.

For the Redskins, they’ve won two in a row and hold a 6-3-1 record in the NFC East, just two and a half games back of division rivals Dallas, which they play this week on Thanksgiving.

Flowers Continues To Hold Own
For the second straight week, defensive end Trey Flowers earned himself a starting nod and he didn’t disappoint. Going up against the San Francisco 49ers, Flowers put up another 3+ tackle game, totaling four stops with one as a solo tackle in the 30-17 victory.

In just three weeks, Flowers has worked his way into an every week starting role on the Patriots’ defensive line and has accumulated six multi-tackle games this season. Flowers had his best game as a pro in Week 8 against Buffalo when he totaled a career-high five tackles and two sacks. Since then, he’s combined for seven takcles, four solo stops, two sacks, and three tackles for a loss.

Flowers now has 24 tackles on the season and still leads the team with four sacks. That sack total is still top 20 in the AFC and ninth among defensive linemen.
