Philadelphia Eagles

#ProHogs Week 16 Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The NFL season enters the Christmas weekend with a 16 game spread over four days, including a game on Christmas Eve and two games on Christmas Day. The busy Week 16 slate kicks off Thursday night with New York Giants (10-4) and Philadelphia Eagles on NBC and NFL Network (7:25 p.m.).

Former Razorback Jason Peters was named to his ninth Pro Bowl, including his seventh as a member of the Eagles. He is tied with all-time greats Reggie White and Brian Dawkins for second in franchise history, trailing only Chuck Bednarik, who was named to eight Pro Bowls as a member of the Eagles.

Since his first Pro Bowl selection, only Cleveland’s Joe Thomas, with 10 Pro Bowl selections, has been selected to as many Pro Bowls as an offensive tackle. His nine Pro Bowl appearances are also the most by an undrafted offensive lineman since the 1970 NFL merger.

The 13-year veteran has started every game this season at left tackle and has started all but two games over the last four seasons at left tackle for the Eagles. He has appeared in 170 games and started 160 games, including three playoff starts, over the last 12-plus years in the league.

On the other side of the ball, Trey Flowers continues to dominate from his defensive end spot for the New England Patriots. Making his sixth straight start, Flowers totaled three tackles, all solo, with two sacks, giving him 7.0 sacks in his last seven games. That sack total ranks fifth among all players during that span.

Flowers and the Patriots (12-2) host the New York Jets (4-10) on Sunday at 1 p.m. on CBS. The Patriots can clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a win and a loss or tie by the Oakland Raiders.

‘Tight End U’ Continues To Thrive

Hunter Henry and A.J. Derby continue to play key roles on their respective teams in the AFC West.

Henry hauled in his seventh touchdown catch for the San Diego Chargers in Sunday’s 19-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders. He has 10 receptions for 95 yards with four touchdowns over his last five games. His seven touchdown grabs are tied for the most among all tight ends and tied for ninth among all pass catchers.

Derby has also been on a tear since joining the Denver Broncos prior to Week 8. He has 16 catches for 160 yards, including nine catches for 92 yards over the last two weeks. The Broncos (8-5) are tied with Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans and 1.0 game back of the Miami Dolphins for the last AFC playoff spot.

The A.J. Derby conspiracy theory is a red herring. Broncos need their tight end now more than ever.

Spaight Shines On Monday Night

Making his first career start, the second-year linebacker more than doubled his season and career numbers, totaling 15 tackles, including 11 solo, in Monday night’s 26-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

He played in only one game his rookie season and had played just seven snaps on defense through the first 10 games this season, before playing 38 snaps the previous week against the Philadelphia Eagles in place of Will Compton, who went down with a knee injury.

#ProHog to Watch In Week 16

Darren McFadden – RB Dallas Cowboys

Running back Darren McFadden made his 2016 debut this past Sunday, rushing three times for 10 yards in a 26-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had missed the first 14 weeks of the season with an elbow injury suffered during the offseason.

Against the Buccaneers, he contributed in a couple of different ways for the Cowboys, also lining up at fullback in front of fellow running back Ezekiel Elliott, the NFL’s leading rusher.

McFadden and the Cowboys host the Detroit Lions in this week’s Monday Night Football matchup at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Cowboys (12-2) can clinch the NFC East title and home-field advantage throughout the NFC Playoffs with a win or tie or a loss or tie by the New York Giants.
