Pulliza’s recruiting class nationally-ranked

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas head volleyball coach Robert Pulliza and his staff have assembled a nationally-ranked recruiting class, announced last week.
Pulliza’s first recruiting class with the Razorbacks is ranked in the top 45 in the country by, the premier club and high school volleyball source in the country.
“We’re very excited for our first recruiting class to be named among the best in the country,” Pulliza said.  “It’s a great core group who will help us build Arkansas into one of the best programs in the nation.”
The 2009 recruiting class evaluated in the ranking includes Amanda Anderson, Cassie Clarke, Kendall Cleveland, Katelyn McCarthy and Jasmine Norton for the 2009 season.
Anderson is a 6-2 middle from Colleyville, Texas, Cleveland is a 5-11 outside hitter from Houston, Texas, and Norton is a 5-9 outside hitter from Rowlett, Texas.  Both Clarke (Fayetteville), a 5-11 setter and McCarthy (Bentonville) a 5-7 defensive specialist are Arkansas natives.
“Knowing that the class is ranked among the best without counting Janeliss Torres who plays for the Puerto Rican Junior National Team and Allison Johnson who is transferring from the University of Missouri makes it even more exciting. Both of these student-athletes will be an important part of the 2009 freshman class.”
Torres is not included in the rankings because she is considered an international player and Allison Johnson does not qualify for the rankings because she is a transfer.
The Razorbacks return to campus the first week of August to begin fall drills before opening play the last week of the month.  For more information about Arkansas volleyball, please log on to
