By Tyler BjornsonArkansas Media RelationsKristin Ingram begins her senior season with the Razorback golf team this fall, and after a stellar junior season and solid amatuer summer, she returns to lead Arkansas. As a junior she participated in all 10 tournaments the Razorbacks played in and posted a career best 211 and tie for fifth-place finish at the Stanford Invitational. Ingram was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, but grew up in California. Her brother Michael is a student at Harvard.MR: What is something about your sport that people may not necessarily know?KI: Something people don’t normally understand about golf is just how much fun it is out there. Most people think it’s really boring because you just go out there and hit a ball and walk to your next hole, but actually there’s a lot going on in your mind. You think a lot about what shots you’ll be making and things like that so I think that’s something people misconceive about golf.MR: What makes your sport so exciting?KI: Every sport is exciting, golf just takes more time and you have to think about it and go through your process. It feels great when you go through all that and get it on the green and make a birdie. It’s always exciting.MR: If you could play any other sport what would it be?KI: I’ve played many sports, but I really like softball.MR: How important is it to give back to the community and what do you plan to do to give back?KI: They’re the ones that cheer us on and give a lot of support to different sports and it’s definitely a builder for every sport. The community helps us do well and makes us strong to keep going. I plan to introduce myself to supporters when they come watch and thank them for everything they’ve done and for supporting us. I like to find out how we can improve and what they want to see from us.MR: What is your major and what do you plan to do after graduation?KI: My major is communications and after this year is up I’m thinking about going pro. If that doesn’t work out as well as I hope it would, then I guess I’ll have to get a normal job like everybody else.MR: Which do you like better: Twilight or Harry Potter?KI: Twilight!MR: What is your favorite food?KI: My favorite food is pizza. It’s so good.MR: What CD do you have in your car right now?KI: I have Sugarland in there right now. My favorite song is Stay.MR: Do you get to watch any of the other sports on campus?KI: We’ve always watched the volleyball team, they’re really good. We have some players on the team who are friends with the gymnastics team so we love watching them and seeing their awesome tricks. And definitely the football games, those are always fun. I’ve gotten to see pretty much all the sports.MR: What do you do when you’re not playing golf or going to class?KI: I love watching movies. Going out to see a movie or staying home and renting a movie, I just love hanging out with friends. I enjoy scary movies, romantic ones, really any types. I really like horror movies so the Saw movies are my favorite.MR: What is the best class you’ve taken here?KI: Communication research has been my favorite class. You just learn so much that’s out there that you didn’t even know about.
