Q&A with a Razorback: Miranda Walker

Her freshman season Walker finished among the Razorbacks’ top six in every meet of the season en route to being named to the All-SEC and all-region teams. She was a national qualifier in both her freshman and sophomore seasons and so far in 2009 is already making strides towards a third national championship appearance.

Walker was named the SEC runner of the week for the first time of her career following her win at the Arkansas invitational in September; she followed that with another win at the Missouri Southern Stampede, and has been the Hogs top finisher in every meet this season.MR: What is the most played song on your ipod?MW: Probably Wonderwall by Oasis.MR: What is your favorite movie?MW: Hitch.MR: If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?MW: I would probably go to Italy, any part of Italy. Just to try the food there.MR: Why did you choose the University of Arkansas?MW: I chose Arkansas because it is a great school and has a good program under Lance Harter, and I loved the team interaction.MR: If you had to choose a sport other than running what would it be?MW: Probably surfing or something like that, I like the beach.MR: If you were a coach what would you say to motivate your team?MW: I would just say to go out there and give it your all.MR: What is one piece of advice you would give an aspiring runner?MW: I would say there are always going to be ups and downs, when you have an up don’t get too high and when you have a low don’t get too low.MR: What is your most embarrassing moment?MW: I’ve got a lot, but probably when I walked into a friends wedding and everyone thought I was a part of the wedding, but I wasn’t, I was just late.MR: What’s your biggest weakness?MW: Getting my confidence up.MR: What is your biggest fear?MW: Probably spiders and snakes, especially when you are running, and they are on the trails, it’s pretty scary. MR: What would you say has been the most important day of your life?MW: I think that day has yet to come.MR: What has been your most memorable moment as a Razorback?MW: A culmination of all the years. Being with the girls and being on a team, a legit team. MR: What are you majoring in, and how did you decide on that?
