Quinn Grovey - Old Spice/Arkansas Honorary Captain For Auburn Game

The University of Arkansas is proud to announce former Razorback quarterback Quinn Grovey as the Old Spice honorary captain for the Auburn-Arkansas football game on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The University of Arkansas Men’s Athletic Department will present an honorary captain for each Fayetteville home game this season. Each honorary captain will be honored prior to the game on the field, recognized on the SmartVision and will accompany the Razorback captains to midfield for the coin toss. The honorary captain will also appear at the Legends Tent presented by Old Spice and Spectrum Brands in the AT&T Trough approximately 90 minutes before game time.Grovey was a 4 year letter winner for the Hogs and was selected as All-Southwest Conference in 1988 after leading the SWC in passing accuracy. A member of the all-decade team of the 1980’s, he rushed for 1,756 yards and passed for almost 4500 yards during his stellar career, accounting for 50 touchdowns. The 6,242 yards in total offense ranks third in Razorback history.In what many consider to be the game of the 80’s, Grovey beat Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware and the Houston Cougars 45-39 with an outstanding performance. Grovey threw for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns while running for 79 yards and 3 scores. Grovey directed the Hogs to a back to back 10-2 seasons, Southwest Conference Championships and Cotton Bowl appearances in 1988 and 1989. – HOGS –
