Rakestraw Granted Release From Razorback Basketball Program

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman guard Nate Rakestraw has asked for and been granted his release from the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball program, head coach John Pelphrey announced on Tuesday.

Rakestraw, a 6-4 guard from Siloam Springs who earned Class 7A all-state honors at Har-Ber High School in 2007, appeared in 11 games this year and played a total of 33 minutes. He did not score, but had two rebounds, one assist, one turnover and one steal for the season.

“I am a fan of Nate Rakestraw and will support him in whatever he wants to do,” Pelphrey says. “I am very, very appreciative of everything he’s done over the past year. Nate is an awesome, awesome human being who we will certainly miss.”
