Razorback Golfers Head to San Antonio for UTSA
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Just one week after returning from the Taylor Made Classic in Kona, Hawaii the Arkansas golf team will travel to San Antonio, Texas on February 23-25, for the UTSA Invitational.
Senior Drew Higginbothom, juniors Andrew Dahl, Seth Murphy, Adam Wing and freshman Paul Bradshaw will represent the Hogs on the 6691-yard, par 71 course at the Oak Hills Country Club.
“I’m glad to get up and play right away after Hawaii,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “The last nine holes at that tournament left a bad taste in our mouths. I thought we did a nice job on the first 45 holes, but I think the guys found themselves in a situation they weren’t comfortable with in the end. I know the guys are looking forward to proving to themselves that they can finish the job. I’m excited to get Murphy back in the lineup and Dahl is playing superb golf. It’s important for us to get some consistency in the number four and five spots.”
The UTSA Invitational will mark a long awaited return to the links for both Murphy and Higginbothom. Murphy last competed in the final fall tournament, the Stonebridge Invitational, on October 21-22. Higginbothom has not played in a tournament since last year’s SEC Championships on April 18-21, when he finished with a score of 229 and 19 over par for 46th.
Dahl, Wing and Bradshaw are fresh off the course from Hawaii last weekend and are primed to play again. Dahl wrapped up the Taylor Made Classic with two under par and 214 to finish in a tie for 26th. Wing was the team’s top finisher with a tie for 16th, and a 212, four under par. Bradshaw continued to improve as he shot one under par for 215 to tie for 38th.
At last year’s UTSA Invitational the Hogs had their best showing of the season when they finished second with a score of 896. Wing was the team’s top finisher at eighth with an eight over par 221. Murphy posted a 22nd place finish with a score of 228 and 15 over par.
Arkansas will play two rounds on Monday, with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday. After the UTSA Invitational the Razorbacks will travel to St. Augustine, Fla., for the Palensia Collegiate Invitational.
