Razorback Football Completes Thursday Practice

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. The Arkansas football team returned to the practice fields located south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Thursday. Head coach Houston Nutt was not happy with the effort of his team during the one-hour session.

“After such a good workout (Wednesday) with people knowing their assignment and playing hard, (practice) was a big disappointment today.” said Nutt. “I was hoping we’d have enough leadership and maturity right there to say ‘you know what, we’re going to go so hard for 12 periods.’”

With no game this weekend, the Hogs will have Friday and Saturday off before practicing Sunday to begin preparing for their first conference game for the season at Alabama.

“We better buckle up both chin straps and be ready to go because SEC play is here come (practice on) Sunday,” said Nutt of the mindset needed to prepare for conference action.

During Thursday’s session, the snaps at quarterback were split between Nathan Dick and Nathan Emert, as starter Casey Dick did not practice. Freshman D.J. Williams continues to make strides and contribute for the Razorbacks.

“(D.J.) has gotten better each day he’s come out here,” Nutt said. “He’s a smart young man who is really committed and understands what we’re trying to get done. I appreciate his attitude.”

The Razorbacks begin game-week preparations for their Sept. 15 game in Tuscaloosa, Ala., when they return to the practice fields. For more coverage of Arkansas football, log on to www.hogwired.com.
