FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team continued practices Tuesday including both newcomers and veterans at the intramural fields adjacent to the Dills Indoor Tennis Courts.
The UA squad again practiced in full pads after switching into the gear on Monday. Head coach Bobby Petrino, entering his fourth season leading the Razorbacks, has liked what he’s seen from the team since switching into pads, especially in the trenches.
"The last two days, I’ve been encouraged in what I’ve seen," Coach Petrino said. "It’s been very competitive out there between the offense and defense. I think our offensive line, once we got the pads on, gave me some encouragement and showed that they have the ability."
Coach Petrino made note of the Razorbacks’ outstanding mindset so far in fall practice and the team’s willingness to work hard.
"That’s our goal," Coach Petrino said. "It’s to come out here and get better each practice, have a great attitude, have fun and practice hard."
Practice continues Wednesday, with the team scheduled to begin drills at 6 p.m. All outdoor practices are open to the public through Aug. 20, excluding Aug. 14 and Aug. 18. The team is scheduled to practice on the intramural fields from Aug. 4 to Aug. 17.
UA will kick off the 2011 season on Sept. 3 against Missouri State inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff and will be available on pay-per-view.
