Razorback hoop notes

Courtney Fortson has 26 steals for the year, an average of 1.2 per game. Almost half of those, 12, have come in the last four games. He’s had three in each of the last four contests. He is the first Razorback with three or more in four straight games since Ronnie Brewer had a 10-game streak in 2005. Brewer had 39 over his streak and finished second in the SEC with 2.3 per game that season. Fortson has also had six or more assists in each of the last four games.

Michael Sanchez had seven rebounds at Mississippi State for his best total since Dec. 27 when he had 10 boards against Northwestern State.

Arkansas made a season-high tying 12 three-pointers at MSU. The Razorbacks were 12-of-25, 48 percent. That percentage is Arkansas’ best in conference play this year and the third-best of the season. The Hogs were 12-of-22 at South Alabama (.545) and 7-of-14 against Stephen F. Austin. Arkansas has made 10 or more threes four times this year, but the MSU game is the first loss when doing so.

Freshman Jason Henry made his second start of the season at MSU and responded with 10 points and five rebounds. He has scored in double-figures a season-high three straight games, following the 10-point, six-rebound effort at LSU and the 11-point, seven-rebound game against Tennessee. Over the last three games, he is fourth on the team with 10.3 points per game and second with 6.0 rebounds.

Junior Stefan Welsh has made 50 percent of his three-pointers in each of the last three games. He was 1-of-2 against LSU, 4-of-8 against Tennessee at 3-of-6 at MSU. He is 8-of-16 overall with an average of 13.3 points.
