Razorback Sports Network expands

The Razorback Sports Network continues to expand as the number of affiliates has surpassed the 2008 total the University of Arkansas Department of Athletics and Razorback Sports Properties announced Wednesday. The addition of four new affiliates pushed the total to 56 stations, which completely cover Arkansas and extend into six surrounding states. "We are excited about the continued growth of our radio network through our partnership with Razorback Sports Properties," Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "The network has seen an increase in total radio affiliates from previous seasons including the addition of stations that provide more coverage across Arkansas and throughout the region. As a result, more Razorback fans will have the opportunity to follow every play of the upcoming season on the Razorback Sports Network." KAMD-FM and KCXY-FM in Camden have renewed their partnership, while KEGI-FM and KWHF-FM in Jonesboro brought the total to 13 new members of the network this year. KEGI-FM, which is a 35K watt station that reaches into Paragould, plans to carry all programming for at least the next two years including football and basketball games, Coach Petrino and Coach Pelphrey’s radio show and Razorback Reports. KWHF-FM 95.9, which is located in Harrisburg and broadcasts into Jonesboro, will be carrying football broadcasts and its sister station KNEA-AM will provide coverage for basketball. New programming and an expanded pregame show highlight plans for the upcoming year. All Arkansas-based stations will carry every football and basketball game broadcast, along with the new "Bobby Petrino Live" radio show. Bobby Petrino Live will be broadcast live from The Catfish Hole in Fayetteville and will be presented by The Lindsey Company. The show airs live on Wednesdays during the football season from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. Razorback basketball head coach John Pelphrey will have a similar program that will be featured during basketball season. The final new programming component this fall is a three-hour pregame show before every Arkansas football game, beginning with the 2009 opener on Sept. 5 against Missouri State. Previously, the pregame show began 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
