Razorback Tennis Splits Matches at Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. – Arkansas’ contingent split their matches over the weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

There were three divisions, each with 64 players. Senior Andrei Nicoara won his opening-round match Friday against Greg Stribos of Furman, 6-2, 6-0, before falling to Brad Clinard of UNC-Charlotte, 6-4, 6-3, on Saturday. Nicoara was in the field’s Division III. Freshman Gabriel Mattos, also in Division III, was knocked off in the opening-round Friday by Alex Ahlgren of East Tennessee State, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. He bounced back to claim a victory in consolation Saturday, 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) over Olivier Zieleniecki of Southeast Louisiana.

In the doubles draw, Mattos and Nicoara paired up and fell to Jean Yves Aubone and Bradley Mixon of Florida State, 8-5.

Arkansas
will be back in action Friday through Sunday at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
