Razorback women’s golf goes to Puerto Rico

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s golf team returns to the links this weekend traveling to the 10th Annual Lady Puerto Rico Golf Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Sunday-Tuesday. Arkansas finished a solid fall ranked 45th in the Golfstat and Golf Week polls, looks to make a move in the five-event regular season portion of the spring. The Razorbacks are paced by sophomore Emily Tubert, a recent selection to the 2012 Curtis Cup team. The All-American played in three of the four fall events, forgoing one to lead the United States team to a gold medal at The Spirit International in Texas. Redshirt sophomore Emma Lavy, junior Victoria Vela and sophomore Emily Podzielinski played in all four fall events and will travel to Puerto Rico as well. Junior Meagan Roberts returns to the lineup after being sidelined with an injury in the late fall. “We worked really hard during this winter break to take our weaknesses and work on those,” head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “We worked really hard and everyone is coming back in the best possible shape and mind frame. We are excited to go to Puerto Rico. We were fortunate with our winter preparation and we are ready for our first event.”
