COMO, Italy – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team enjoyed another fantastic day in Italy on Friday.
The team woke to a late breakfast around 8 a.m. and boarded the bus for a day trip to Lake Lugano in Switzerland.& It was about a 45 minute drive across the border from Lake Como to Lake Lugano where we met our local guide for a walking tour of a public villa, its gardens and the town square.
Although the two lake towns are very close, they were miles apart in feel and appearance.& Lake Lugano had the vibe of a larger city with higher end shops including Gucci and Louis Vuitton.& There were many leather stores and watch stores along with the more traditional tourist souvenirs including some amazing chocolate.
The team also visited a church with more a more gothic style – very different than the massive marble-adorned cathedrals of Italy.& The church in Switzerland was decorated with frescos and beautiful art but was overall more simple than it’s Italian neighbors.
@RazorbackWBB returned to Lake Como and had a couple of free hours before regrouping for a pregame meal of pasta, grilled chicken, potatoes and salad.
It was a 45 minute drive to Costamasnaga, Italy, where the Razorbacks took on Chemcats Chemnitz (see the game story) for the final contest in Italy before returning home Saturday morning
