FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas baseball team (18-12, 4-6 SEC) fell to No. 1 South Carolina (26-3, 7-3) by a score of 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday afternoon at Baum Stadium.
In a game featuring stellar starting pitching from both sides, the Razorbacks struck first with a two-out RBI double from Blake Baxendale that scored Brian Anderson from third base in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sophomore Trey Killian was charged with the loss after South Carolina plated two in the top of the eighth. Killian pitched 7.2 innings with five strikeouts and just the two earned runs, marking the fourth time in six starts this season he has allowed two or fewer runs.
