@RazorbackMBB Rewind: What A Difference A Year Makes
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Over the 10 days leading up to the National Championship game, will highlight the top 10 stories and moments from the 2013-14 @RazorbackMBB season, in which the Razorbacks won 22 games advanced to the postseason in head coach Mike Anderson’s third season.
Monday’s feature takes a look at the major improvement by junior Rashad Madden and sophomore Michael Qualls from the previous season. A few quick stats leading into the article, Madden and Qualls had a combined seven double figure games and 13 three-pointers in 2012-13, and produced a combined 49 double figure outings and made 92 threes in 2013-14.
Not An Easy Feat
Rashad Madden finished as Arkansas’ leading scorer (12.7) and top assist man (2.8), becoming just the sixth Razorback to lead the way in both categories since assists were recorded in 1977. Through his first two seasons, Madden had led the team in scoring one time and assists 10 times. In 2013-14, the Lepanto, Ark. product was team’s leading scorer in 11 games and in assists on 16 occasions.
Night And Day
Junior Rashad Madden and sophomore Michael Qualls made a big jump from last year, putting up career numbers in nearly every category this season.

Three Of A Kind
Junior Rashad Madden became just the third player in program history to lead Arkansas in scoring the first three SEC games, averaging 17.7 points over that span. Madden was the first since SCOTTY THURMAN accomplished the feat in 1993. Thurman averaged 26.3 points over the three games, while TODD DAY was the first to do it in Arkansas’ first year (1992) in the SEC. Day poured in 33 points per game during his three-game run, including 43 at LSU.

Rare Air
Sophomore Michael Qualls’ game-winning dunk with 0.2 seconds left in OT against No. 13/12 Kentucky was No. 1 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays. The game-winning dunk in OT wasn’t the first of Qualls’ career. As a sophomore at Huntington HS in Shreveport, La., Qualls threw down a put-back dunk as time expired in OT on Jan. 12, 2010, in a 61-59 win against Byrd HS.
Known for his high-flying antics, sophomore Michael Qualls’ dunk over 6-foot-10 Keaton Jackson of SIU-Edwarsville in the season opener landed at No. 4 on the #SCtop10. It was just the start for Qualls, as he found his way onto the #SCtop10 eight times this season, including twice at Missouri. His buzzer-beating game-winning dunk against Kentucky on Jan. 14, on ESPN’s Super Tuesday is up for the Geico College Basketball Play of the Year.
Fans are welcome to join @RazorbackMBB for its postseason banquet, presented by First Security, on Wednesday, April 16. Both individual tickets and full tables are available for purchase at Single tickets run $25 each and a 10-seat table is $250. The banquet will be held on the court inside Bud Walton Arena with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the banquet beginning at 7 p.m.
