NEW YORK, N.Y. — Coming off a tie for sixth place at the SEC Championship, the Arkansas men’s golf team came in at No. 19 for the second straight week in the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches poll released on Thursday. The SEC landed eight teams in the top 25 to lead all conferences. Arkansas will find out its destination for NCAA Regionals on Monday, May 5, at 9 a.m. when the NCAA selections are announced at 9 a.m. on the Golf Channel. Part of a 14-team field that featured 11 teams ranked in the top 50, the Razorbacks produced a program SEC Championship single round record (275) and 54-hole record (842) score on the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. For just the third time in 23 trips to the SEC Championship, Arkansas turned in no score higher than 74, all of which have come under head coach Brad McMakin. Individual records were also set at the SEC Championship, highlighted by senior Sebastian Cappelen’s bogey-free six-under 64 in the final round. Cappelen’s career-low round equaled the program SEC Championship record set also in the final round by Bud Still in 1995. Sophomore Nicolas Echavarria set a program SEC first round record with a bogey-free four-under 66 and then the 36-hole record at six-under 134.
