GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team posted three singles wins in the initial day of competition at the SEC Fall Classic hosted by Florida on Friday.
The Razorbacks got off to a rough start, losing three of three doubles matches. But Arkansas was able to rally back in the singles portion of play.
Picking up the first win of the day, junior William Albanese battled through three sets to defeat Zach Wilder of Ole Miss 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Senior Jovan Parlic kept the momentum going. The Razorback beat Florida’s Josh Wardell in two sets 7-6 (1), 6-4.
Claiming Arkansas’ final victory was sophomore Johan den Toom. den Toom bettered Max Lunkin (Texas A&M) 6-4, 7-6 (8).
Freshman David Herrerias pushed Ole Miss’ William Kallberg to three sets but ultimately fell 6-7, 7-6, 6-1.
The Razorbacks will be back in action at the SEC Fall Classic tomorrow at 7 a.m. when the second round of singles play begins.
