@RazorbackMTEN Defeated By No. 15 Florida

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In its first outdoor home match of the season, the University of Arkansas men’s tennis team faced a 4-0 defeat by No. 15 Florida at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center on Friday.

With the loss the Razorbacks fell to 11-8 overall, 1-4 in the SEC, while the Gators improved to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Florida got momentum going quickly as it took the doubles point in two matches. First, playing in the No. 1 position, junior Santiago Munoz and freshman Branch Terrell were bettered by Maxx Lipman and Elliott Orkin 6-3. Then, Razorback pair of junior Giammarco Micolani and senior Jovan Parlic fell to No. 33 Diego Hildalgo and Gordon Watson 6-2.  Arkansas’ sophomore Johan den Toom and junior William Albanese were losing to Joshua Wardell and Oliver Landert 5-3 when play was called.

The Gators jumped out to a 3-0 lead, taking the No. 4 and 5 courts in straight sets. Arkansas made a bit of a comeback as Micolani, Albanese and freshman David Herrerias all pushed their competition to third sets. But the Razorbacks could not hold on and Parlic was defeated 7-5, 6-2 by No. 99 Orkin in the No. 2 spot.

Arkansas will next host its second home match of the week when it faces Auburn at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center at 1 p.m., CT on Sunday.
