Razorbacks Drop First Qualifying Matches In Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – A quartet of Razorbacks competed in the first qualifying round of the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Oklahoma Monday.

Oscar Mesquida began the day in an all Southeastern Conference matchup against Andy Andrade of Florida. Mesquida dropped a hard-fought first set 7-6(10) before falling in the second set 6-2. Adam Sanjurjo fell in succession, 6-4, 6-4 to Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford.

Mesquida is set to face off against the No. 73 ranked Catalin Mateas of Duke in the consolation bracket, as Sanjurjo will matchup against Carlo Donato of Virginia Tech.

Alex Reco and Josh Howard-Tripp fell in the first round of the qualifying doubles bracket 6-1, 6-4 to Alan Gadjiev and Brett Dill of Wake Forest.

The main draw of the ITA All-American is set to begin Thursday, as Arkansas’ duo of Oscar Mesquida and Adam Sanjurjo, ranked No. 14 nationally will compete in the doubles draw.
