Razorbacks Fall at No. 7 Florida
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ brutal road stretch continued Sunday with a 6-1 defeat at the hands of the No. 7 Florida Gators in Gainesville, Fla.

The 38th-ranked Razorbacks, who are in the midst of an eight-match road trip, drop to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in SEC play. Florida moves to 7-4 and 2-0.

“We still can’t put anything together as a team,” Razorback Coach Robert Cox said, “especially in doubles, and we are really going to take a look at that.”

The Gators took all three doubles’ matches en route to earning the doubles’ point. At No. 1, the Hogs’ pair of Adrians Zguns and Rohan Gajjar led 7-6, but lost three straight games in a 9-7 setback to UF’s Hamid Mirzadeh and Greg Ouellette. On court two, Arkansas’ team of Matt Roberts and Imraan Ismail were tied at four with Florida’s tandem of Chris Brandi and Vlad Obradovic, but the Gators won the next four games to win that match, 8-4. Arkansas led 4-1 on court No. 3 with Talley Parker and Andrei Nicoara jumping out to the early advantage, but UF’s Jordan Dolberg and Ryan Sherry rallied to give the Gators an 8-6 victory.

Gajjar, No. 63 nationally, improved to 5-2 on the season with his three-set win over No. 59 Obradovic at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. But the junior’s win would not be enough as the Gators controlled the other five singles’ matches. UF jumped out to a 2-0 advantage when No. 69 Brandi knocked off UA’s Matt Simpson, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5. At No. 1, Zguns was defeated by Mirzadeh, 7-6, 6-2. Freshman Michael Jung played No. 6 for the second consecutive match, but was beaten by Sherry, 6-2, 7-5. Ismial fell in three sets to Nestor Briceno at No. 4, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0. No. 72 Roberts dropped his match to 29th-ranked Ouellette, 6-4, 7-5.

“Rohan (Gajjar) was a bright spot,” Cox said, “Adrians Zguns and Matt Roberts fought their hearts out, but we’re just not getting any production from the bottom of our lineup, and to be successful in the SEC and on the national level, you have to have that.”

Arkansas resumes play Friday at Tennessee in a match slated to begin at 5 p.m. in Knoxville, Tenn.
