Razorbacks Fall to Top-Ranked Georgia

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team fell to the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Friday afternoon by a score of 5-2.
The Razorbacks were swept in doubles play giving the doubles point to Georgia, the defending national champions. Georgia’s Matias Boeker and Bo Hodge defeated Arkansas’ Aleksey Bubis and Oggie Kolev, 8-4. At the No. 2 spot, Georgia’s Brandon Wagner and Adam Seri defeated Magnus Kullenberg and Kristofer Ivarsson by a score of 8-4. Lesley Joseph and Nicolas Boeker won at the No. 3 position by beating Arkansas’ tandem of Nathan Price and Eddie Pacheco, 9-7.
In singles action, Razorback senior Oggie Kolev was defeated by Matias Boeker, the defending national champion in singles and doubles, by a score of 7-5, 6-4. At the No. 2 position, sophomore Nathan Price fell to the 11th ranked player in the country, Brandon Wagner, 7-5, 6-4. At the No. 3 spot UA senior Magnus Kullenberg defeated Georgia’s Lesley Joseph, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
Arkansas’ Eddie Pacheco lost to Bo Hodge, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 position. Junior Aleksey Bubis added a point for the Hogs at the No. 5 spot when Georgia’s Adam Seri retired. Oscar Ohlsson lost at the No. 6 position to Stephan Timu by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
The Hogs return to action Sunday when they play host to 15th ranked Tennessee Volunteers at the UA Indoor/Outdoor Tennis Complex.
