Razorbacks Hammer School-Record Eight Home Run

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas hammered a school-record eight home runs, including a school-record tying three off the bat of Danny Hamblin in a 15-8 win over Oral Roberts Tuesday night.
The eight home runs broke the single-game school record set May 23, 1985, against Eastern Kentucky in the NCAA South II Regional in Tallahassee, Fla.
A Arkansas-red clad J.L. Johnson Stadium saw a season-high 2,213 fans pass through the gate and Hamblin go 4 for 5 with four RBI and 14 total bases. His three home runs tied the school record for home runs in a game held by five other Razorbacks. The most recent was Rodney Nye’s three against South Carolina May 16, 1999. Hamblin now has eight home runs this season, tying his total from his freshman season.
“(Danny) had a great night,” Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn said. “Three home runs is a great night for any power hitter. You just don’t do that very often. It really was a special night for him.”
The Razorbacks improve to 28-6 on the season and have won seven straight games. Oral Roberts falls to 19-14 on the season with the loss and has now dropped nine straight games to Arkansas in Tulsa.
Blake Parker hit two home runs for the first multiple-home run game of his career. He finished the night with three hits in four at bats and four RBI. Jake Dugger hit a two-run home run in the first inning for his eighth home run of he season, also tying his career high.
John Henry Marquardt and Ben Tschepikow collected the first home runs of their respective Arkansas careers. Marquardt finished 3 for 5 with a RBI and Tschepikow went 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Clay Goodwin also collected two hits, including his second triple of the season to raise his average to .308.
Shaun Seibert got the win with 2.1 innings of work out of the bullpen. James Gilbert started and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three runs – two earned – on three hits. The two teams combined for 12 home runs on the night.
Dane Towery (2-2) took the loss for the Golden Eagles, allowing seven runs on seven hits in two innings of work. In all, the Razorbacks pounded four ORU pitchers for 18 hits and 15 earned runs.
