Razorbacks Lead by One Stroke After First Roun


TANAGURA, Japan – After the first round of the Topy Cup the Arkansas golf team leads the 11-team field by one stroke. The Razorbacks shot a combined four-over-par 292 through 18 holes on Tanagura Country Club’s 72-par, 7,086-yard golf course. Duke and Japan’s Nihon are both tied for second with a 293.
The UA seniors led the team as Adam Wing fired a 67 to put himself in first place at the end of the day. All-American Andrew Dahl was next with an even 72 and is in a four-way tie for ninth and Chad Faucett had a four-over-par 76 to tie for 29th.
Sophomore Paul Bradshaw and freshman Scotty Campbell tied for 34th with a score of 77. The Topy Cup is Campbell’s first tournament to compete in as a Razorback.
The other United States teams in the tournament are Washington and Oregon. Washington posted a score of 303 for the ninth spot, while Oregon rounded out the field in 11th with a 316.
Arkansas will tee off for the second round at 10:32 a.m. on Wednesday and hope to extend its lead. The final round will be played on Thursday with tee times to be determined based on finishes from the second round.
